What is difference between a Scala Class and Object ?

I am new to scala, i am basically from Java programming background.

I Understand the difference there clearly, can anyone help me in answering the same question here in Scala?

    An object has exactly one instance (you can not call new MyObject). You can have multipleinstances of a class.

    Object serves the same (and some additional) purposes as the static methods and fields in Java.
